From August 27th-29th, four schools from the Hunter region showcased their STEM skills at the State Finals of the Science and Engineering Challenge in Newcastle.
Representing the region were Newcastle High, St Joseph’s Catholic College Aberdeen, All Saints College (St Peters), and Newcastle Grammar. These schools earned places in the finals by being triumphant in their respective Regional Challenge days.
The Science and Engineering Challenge is an annual competition that encourages students to engage in STEM through hands-on problem-solving activities. The Challenge features a series of activities designed to test the students’ knowledge, creativity, and teamwork.
RDA Hunter provided numerous schools with Science and Engineering Challenge boxes, allowing for schools to run a Challenge activity in the classroom. The kits introduce hands on, engaging activities relevant to curriculum and helped local schools prepare for the ME Programs Build ME a Future days, and the Science and Engineering Challenge days by the University of Newcastle.
The final score of each of the Hunter teams were:
9th – All Saints College (St Peter’s Campus) 1298.69
11th – Newcastle High School 1256.65
15th – Newcastle Grammar School 1208.25
17th – St Josephs Catholic College Aberdeen 1167.44
