RDA Hunter’s third annual Defence Industry Technology & Careers Expo was held at Murrook Cultural Centre, Williamtown, on 16th March. Students from six Hunter high schools as well as TAFE and University students experienced hands-on access to high-tech Defence equipment and liaised with Hunter Defence industry representatives.
At the event, students explored interactive STEM installations, hands-on aerospace exhibits, VR headsets and an F-35 ejection seat. They were guided through the event by RAAF and University of Newcastle representatives. The expo introduced students to a range of local Defence industry career/education pathways, as well as the Hunter’s diverse and world-class technical capabilities. The event helped students understand the real, long-term jobs on-offer in the region, and aimed to inspire them to innovate, explore, invent and pioneer by pursuing STEM careers in the Defence Industry sector.
