RDA Hunter’s miniME 2020 Professional Development Project was launched on Monday 19 October with 14 participating primary educators in the Hunter region. The project will focus on the interaction between computers and the physical world (using sensors, actuators, data collection and data analysis) and aims to increase Stage 3 educator’s knowledge of micro:bit hardware through a series of instructional videos and learning resources that can be implemented within the classroom.

Teachers receive:

  • A micro:bit kit and some associated hardware
  • Access to 3 x Modules of work with instructional videos
  • Accompanying teacher resources
  • Access to a 1-hour, 1:1 session with RDA Hunter STEM Consultant

These instructional videos will allow teachers time to experiment and build confidence in what is possible in their classroom. Online resources will be provided linking classroom activities, curriculum, equipment selection and operation and troubleshooting.

Participating schools include: Newcastle East PS, Thornton PS, Hamilton North PS, Booragul PS, Islington PS, St Columban’s Mayfield, Fern Bay PS, Swansea PS, Merewether PS, Caves Beach PS, Dungog District Community of Schools and Gresford PS.

Participating educators will receive the second Module of work on Monday 19 October and the third and final Module on Monday 2 November.
