Women in STEM
RDA Hunter is dedicated to engaging young women from secondary schools across the Hunter region in projects, activities, events and initiatives to inspire and encourage them to study STEM subjects at schools and pursue STEM based careers.
The Women in STEM project was funded in 2018 through the NSW Government’s Investing in Women fund to ensure young women “can see what they can be” by hearing from inspirational female STEM leaders discussing their careers and achievements within STEM careers.
The project included a sit down panel session with leading females in STEM careers where participating students gained an insight into the plethora of opportunities that are available to females in STEM fields, as well as a hands-on technology workshop and a site visit to see STEM in action.
Since its inception in 2018, RDA Hunter’s Women in STEM project has engaged over 240 young females from secondary schools across the Hunter.
