CANBERRA, Thursday 13 February 2020: Defence technology and innovation company, Lockheed Martin Australia has today announced an investment in excess of $120,000 for the newly established Lockheed Martin Australia Bursary, as part of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund.
The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund (GSF) is an Australian not-for-profit established in 1996 to provide scholarships for eligible descendants of Australian veterans to undertake tertiary study. The purpose of the GSF is to honour the memory and legacy of Australian veterans.
The Lockheed Martin Australia Bursary is the GSF’s first corporate bursary, with the value of each Bursary being the same as for other Gallipoli Scholarships and Bursaries and apply for
the first year of study. To be eligible for an LMA Bursary, applicants must satisfy the same core criteria common to all Gallipoli scholarships as a direct descendant of an Australian veteran and additionally be enrolled in a tertiary course of study in a STEM field or related discipline.
There will be one LMA Bursary awarded for 2020, with a further 11 awarded up until end 2023. Applications for the 2020 Bursary close on the 1st March 2020, with the recipient of the first Lockheed Martin Australia Bursary announced at a presentation ceremony on the 16th April 2020.

Major General Michael G Smith AO (Ret’d) Chair Gallipoli Scholarship Fund said, “We are so pleased to have secured this first corporate Bursary with Lockheed Martin Australia as our partner. It allows the Fund to support more descendants of our Veterans.”
The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), current Governor General of Australia, and Mrs Linda Hurley, have been elected as the first patrons of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund.
