RDA Hunter and Port Waratah Coal Services recently partnered to deliver a Primary School STEM Education Program which encompassed the history of the port, sustainability programs and STEM activities, highlighting how these are put into practice at Port Waratah.
Year 5 & 6 students from both Carrington Public School and Stockton Public School participated in the program which consisted of an incursion in which Port Waratah staff attended the schools for a half day workshop to introduce the students to the history of the port, share Port Waratah’s sustainability initiatives and deliver STEM activities.
After the incursion, the students were taken on an excursion to Port Waratah Coal Services Kooragang terminal where they were able to see STEM in action and some key machinery such as a stacker, reclaimer, conveyors and ship loaders that make for successful and efficient running of Port Waratah..
RDA Hunter extends its thanks to Port Waratah Coal Services for supporting this initiative via the Community Investment and Partnership Program and Carrington and Stockton Public Schools for participating in the project.
